It feels necessary to start this post off by stating that I watched the OG YouTube beauty gurus RELIGIOUSLY from the years 2012-2019. You name an MUA, I’ve watched at least half of their makeup tutorials and reviews. As the beauty trends and routines have changed throughout the years, I have tried many different brands, products, and techniques; this, as a result, has caused me to change my makeup routine almost seasonally.
I believe it is safe to say that the current trend in makeup is the “no makeup” look. I laugh every time I try to explain that to a guy when they state they like girls with a “natural look”…. Well, sir, that look took at least 30 minutes to do LOL. Anyways, I too have loved the minimal makeup trend, especially in the summer. There is just something so beautiful about a quick 15 minute beauty routine that is basically foolproof. Recently, I have solidified my current everyday makeup routine, with some new brands I am obsessed with, as well as some of my tried and true favorites.
Primer
For primer I have been actively trying to use products that serve more than one purpose. That being said, I have been loving using my First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream to prep my face, allowing some moisture to soak into my skin prior to any other products. I go right on top of that with the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter. This stuff is liquid gold. It gives such a beautiful glow on your face, while also blurring out some imperfections. It is super lightweight and easy to apply. There are some days where that and moisturizer are all that I will put on my skin, it’s that good. It is a bit on the pricier side, but this is one product I would definitely recommend investing in.
Foundation
I’ll admit, I am completely over foundation entirely. However, if I am looking for a bit more coverage, there are 2 products that I am currently obsessed with. The first is a cult loved product that I am now just dipping my toes in: the NARS tinted moisturizer… omg it is the best. The shade I picked matches my skin tone perfectly and it is the right amount of coverage I am looking for. I don’t like when my freckles get covered or when a foundation looks too full-coverage. This however melts right into the skin.
My second go-to, which is a recent favorite, is from the company Doll 10 Beauty. Their Doll Skin Anti-Stress Skin Perfector has been a product that I almost always gravitate to. I met a gal at a family friend’s party who works for the company and she was so kind as to send me some of their products. When I tell you I am in love with this company… I am in LOVE with this company. If you ever have time, give them a search and read about their founding story. It is a clean beauty/skincare line, all about empowering others to feel great about the skin they are in.
Concealer
Keeping with the theme of loving Doll 10 Beauty, I was also sent their T.C.E Super Coverage Concealer. My mom also was sent the products and she claims that this is her favorite concealer she has ever tried. There is 0 creasing in the undereye area and it blends so well into the skin. Their design on the packaging is also something to take note of. The applicator is made of metal, which gives a cooling effect to the skin. Chelsey, who works for the company, told me that she will sometimes just run the applicator over her under eyes prior to putting on any product to help with depuffing… amazing right?! This product is so high up in my rankings now, it will be hard to find a concealer for under eyes that tops this.
If I am spot concealing any acne flare ups, I will go in with my Colourpop concealer. So inexpensive and does the trick every time. I find it blends out really well and stays in place for hours on end.
Powder
To set the under eyes and T-Zone, I will go in with the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish Setting Powder. Some powders on my skin will crease and not blend in well, sometimes even looking cakey. This powder almost melts into the skin, really deserving the name of flawless finish. This paired with a setting spray at the end is a game changer! Another product on the pricier side so definitely be on the lookout for any sales or promotions from CT!
Blush
There are only 2 blush products that I will reach for: Rare Beauty’s Liquid Blush and Colourpop’s Blush Stick. Both liquid/cream blushes are so easy to apply and really give the face some beautiful color. Pro tip for the Rare Beauty blush – a tiny bit goes a long way, so it is better to build up the product or else you may look like a tomato <3
Contour/Bronzer
I do have a 3-step process for contouring and bronzer. A bit overkill? Maybe. Will I stop my 3-step process? Never. I start off with the Makeup Revolution Eye Bright Concealer in a darker shade to contour my cheeks and nose. I use this as a dupe to the Charlotte Tilbury liquid contour wand and it works wonders at a fraction of the price! After that, I will go into my Fenty Beauty Cream Bronzer and warm up all areas of my face that I would apply powder bronzer to. Finally, I go in with one of my favorite products of all time (just purchased my 5th one), the Physcian’s Formula Butter Bronzer to set the cream bronzer and add a bit more warmth to my face and neck. This trio is just *chef’s kisses*
Mascara
My genetics have blessed me with pretty long and thick eyelashes, so I don’t really have one specific product I will use everyday. I tend to just rotate through the ones I have so they all get used and don’t expire. I am a firm believer that if one product in your makeup collection is drugstore, it should always be the mascara. If you are looking for one that lengthens, I would recommend LOreal Telescopic. If you are looking for more volume, the Essence mascaras are great for that. The Essence mascaras have been repurchased multiple times on my end and they are only $5 each.
Brows
When I visit my brow girl, she audibly gasps everytime she sees my eyebrows. They are the fussiest things and have a mind of their own. I tried growing them out… never again will I try that unless I am trying to look like Oscar the Grouch. One of them curls up and NEVER stays in place. That is, until I found a holy grail product. The Anastasia Brow Freeze is no joke. It literally is like a gelatinous cement on your face. Those puppies now stay in their lane. It dries down pretty quickly though so if you do pick this up, you will need to work fast.
To add some depth and color to my brows, I will go in with Doll 10 Beauty’s OverARCHiever Brow Pencil (punny, I love it). Every other brow pencil I have tried always looks so bad on me. I don’t like my brows to look like they are too done up, but definitely do need color in there to even out sparser areas. This brow pencil is a gift from the heavens. Blends right into the brows and looks effortless and subtle. It comes with a spoolie attached so bonus for that.
Setting Spray
I just cannot get myself to spend over $15 on basically water, that is just crazy. The one spray I will buy and buy again is the Morphe Continuous Setting Mist. It’s refreshing to put on and makes my makeup last all day or night. Make sure to pick up the MIST, because I have had problems with their other sprays’ nozzle.
With these products, I am able to routinely apply my makeup in about 15 minutes. All of these products last me the entire day and give me that “no makeup” look, that can definitely be buildable for a deeper nighttime look. Let me know if you try out any of these products, or if you have any recommendations that I can try out! Also be sure to check out my instagram, where I filmed a reel showing how I apply these products 🙂 Thank you again for your support, talk soon! Xoxo -Kelly
